My wife and I retired to Maine in 2023 and decided to become snowbirds for healthcare reasons. South Carolina checked all the boxes for cost of living, climate, and access to resources. We selected Columbia for our second home.
Over the course of five months, Autumn showed us dozens of homes that met our criteria. When we asked her opinion about a property, she gave us a straight answer, good or bad. A lot of homes didn't make the cut. It was hard to get accurate and complete information from the sellers and their agents. Autumn kept the communication going until we learned why it was hard. We were able to back away from bad deals because of her persistence and the quality of information she was able to obtain.

Kelly was recommended to us by a church friend. Prior to meeting Kelly, our friend spoke so highly of her that we were actually worried our experience would be the opposite -like, when someone recommends a restaurant and you go there and the food is terrible- that's what we were thinking. However, as soon as we met Kelly, we realized that our friend didn't do her justice! She was very informative, explained everything clearly, walked us through each step and was personable the entire time. At times it seemed that she went out of her way to accommodate us or be somewhere for us when we couldn't, but that's just how she is. She isn't a realtor that will do anything for her clients and makes sure you know she does; she's a realtor that does what she would want a realtor to do if she were buying or selling a home. She seemed more like a friend that does real estate than a friendly real estate agent. The realtor for the buyers of our home was difficult and at times unethical but Kelly worked with us, kept us calm, and navigated everything. Don't let the dresses and sandals fool you! When she has to, she puts on her armor and will battle anyone. We ended up getting a great deal selling our home and none of the unethical or shady tactics the other realtor tried worked. Not only will we always recommend her(we already have to a friend of ours,) but we will always have a friend in her. She builds friendships, not customer relationships.

I'm an old guy and, at this point in my life, a confirmed skeptic. Once I decided to relocate I began an online search, trying to find a home that fit my specific need - a single family home with a separate in law dwelling. Most of the listed properties offering separate in law apartments contained nothing more than a separate bedroom with a bath. I did find a listing that caught my attention late one afternoon and, even though it was well after dark when I was able to view the place, Mrs. Belknap met me there and showed me around. I was immediately interested. There was a pending offer and I needed to wait until family members could come into town the following weekend to see for themselves. I did make an offer and, thanks to Mrs. Belknap, it was accepted. I was working with a potential lender but Mrs. Belknap put me in touch with a Zillow loan officer with whom she had worked. I was again skeptical, especially when that particular loan officer told me he could likely arrange a mortgage loan with better terms - and an earlier closing. Once I selected Zillow mortgage services I advised Mrs. Belknap of my expectations with regard to the types and quality of the inspections I wanted. She made arrangements for every inspection. The results were excellent; I was truly impressed with the contacts she had and with the relationships she had formed with those various inspectors. Between her and the Zillow loan officer, I was kept in the loop on a daily basis. I am a firm believer that a person's word is their bond. Throughout the process I was never misled; I quickly discovered that not only was Mrs. Belknap a skilled negotiator but also she delivered on every promise. Once the results of the inspections were available she made sure that the necessary remedial actions were completed. On the morning of the closing, she stopped by the home to make sure some last minute tasks were completed to her satisfaction. At that point I had good reason to rely on her judgement. After my mom passed away in 2020 I was tasked with selling her home. My experience at the time left me unimpressed. I can state, without reservation, that I have never had a better experience with a real estate agent. Once my relocation is complete I will be asking Mrs. Belknap to list the home I am vacating.
